PUBLIC TOILETS DARFIELD

Permaloo worked with Selwyn District Council to create a five-pan public toilet facility with wastewater treatment system, carpark, and stunning stonework to suit the surrounding alpine landscape.

The Solution

Permaloo supplied and installed a dutch gable roof toilet facility including an Eloy wastewater treatment system, covered waiting area, and fully sealed carpark. In keeping with Darfield’s alpine style, stonework was applied partway up the walls of the building and around front posts, and interior colour schemes were selected by the community. We also customised the floorplan configuration to accommodate the skatepark toilet requirement.

The Challenge

This site was located in a park next to a busy main highway in Darfield. Therefore, it was essential for the project to have a quick on-site build programme with minimal disturbance to park grounds for effluent disposal. The design needed to allow for one pan being accessible from the skatepark side of building and a covered waiting area, and match the alpine style of other buildings in the area.

The Result

Darfield now has a user-friendly, wheelchair compliant, five-pan public toilet facility that is an attractive rest stop for passing motorists. Our quick installation minimised build time and disturbance, and the facility is easy to clean, low maintenance, and robust.

The feedback we have had from the community has been nothing but positive with other community groups in the district keen to follow on from the success of this model for their project.”
